Radix's New $10 Million Ecosystem Fund Is Paving the Way for DeFi's Mass Adoption

A cryptocurrency analyst and trader says Bitcoin (BTC) is entering the final phase of the current bull cycle.

The analyst and trader pseudonymously known as Rekt Capital tells his 115,000 YouTube subscribers that Bitcoin is on the cusp of a parabolic rally.

Rekt Capital, however, says that in the potential incoming rally, Bitcoin could see a relatively muted bullish move relative to other cycles.

“And so price discovery uptrend number three, maybe it’s not going to be as parabolic as it once was in the cycle simply because of what we’re seeing from the data. Maybe the maturity of the cycle and obviously the diminishing returns that we see, we’re not going to see as parabolic an upside over here. But we will probably still see new all-time highs going forward simply because we still have a bit of time.”

On when Bitcoin could hit a new all-time high to end the bull cycle, Rekt Capital says,

“If we’re going to repeat 2017 history, then we’ll be peaking right now as we speak. But if we’re repeating 2021 history, then mid-October would be that goal post.

But at the same time, if we’re seeing expanded cycles naturally occurring in the halving cycles and we only have two data points really that we can rely on and there is a 30-day period or delta between these. If we do see 30 extra days take place, then that would get us into mid-November overall.”

Bitcoin is trading at $116,132 at time of writing.

Bitcoin on Cusp of a Parabolic Move As BTC Approaches End of Bull Cycle, Says Crypto Analyst – But There’s a Catch

The world’s largest crypto exchange platform by volume is adding support for a Bitcoin (BTC) decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol.

In a new announcement, Binance says it will be adding Lombard (BARD) – a liquid staking Bitcoin protocol – to its suite of products.

“Binance is excited to announce that Lombard (BARD) will be added to Binance Simple Earn, ‘Buy Crypto,’ Binance Convert, Binance Margin, and Binance Futures.”

News of the addition preceded a massive downward price swing for BARD, as the asset went from a peak of $1.70 earlier on the day to its current price of $1.05, a 38% decrease during the last 24 hours.

According to Lombard’s official website, Lombard was founded in 2024 with the aim of bringing liquidity to BTC and was able to garner $1 billion in total value locked (TVL) in just 92 days with its BTC-based product, Lombard Staked Bitcoin (LBTC).

“Sixteen years ago, Bitcoin set the foundation for the onchain revolution, inspiring DeFi, stablecoins, and the tokenization movement. Yet today, BTC sits idle and its ecosystem remains dormant. Lombard exists to change this.

Top Crypto Exchange by Trading Volume Binance Adds New Bitcoin DeFi Protocol Lombard As BARD Crashes

A widely followed crypto analyst says that one Ethereum (ETH) competitor looks solid while updating his outlook on Bitcoin (BTC) and Fartcoin (FARTCOIN).

In a new thread, pseudonymous crypto trader Altcoin Sherpa tells his 254,800 followers on X that smart contract platform Solana (SOL) looks solid as it makes its way toward the $250 level.

“$250 is the area to break but things are looking pretty solid. Would stay long until shown otherwise.”

Solana is trading for $248 at time of writing, a 1.5% increase on the day.

Moving on to the top crypto asset by market cap, the trader says BTC looks bullish and its next stops will be the $120,000 price tag and then new all-time highs (ATHs).

“BTC next two regions up, $120,000 and then ATH regions. Bullish until shown otherwise.”

BTC is trading for $117,413 at time of writing, a 1.4% increase on the day.

Concluding his analysis with the meme asset Fartcoin, Sherpa says the token has three positive narratives going for it: being tied to Solana, being a big cap meme, and being a relevant meme coin last year.

The analyst notes the altcoin is on the cusp of breaking through its 200-day exponential moving average (EMA) after failing to do so earlier this week.

“FARTCOIN pulled back from the first test of the 200-day EMA on the one-day [chart] a few days ago. Time to break that. Hot air rises.”

FARTCOIN is valued at $0.921 at time of writing, a 11% increase on the day.

Crypto Trader Says ‘Things Are Looking Pretty Solid’ for One Large-Cap Ethereum Rival, Unveils Outlook for Bitcoin and Fartcoin

The former market president of Morris Bank in Gray will reportedly spend a year and a day behind bars for committing bank fraud.

The Telegraph reports that Alan Childs was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia spokesperson Melissa Hodges says that the prison term comes with a $10,000 fine and three years of supervised release.

Childs conspired with one of his clients, Ronnie Atkinson, who fraudulently cashed out millions in loans from the bank. The timber harvesting company owner pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft on May 12th.

The scheme began in 2019 when Childs informed Atkinson that he reached the maximum loan threshold for him to approve. Childs’ lending authority was only up to $500,000 per customer and a senior credit officer would have to approve loans that go beyond this limit.

Childs suggested that a family member could get a loan for him, so Atkinson brought in relatives and friends who served as straw borrowers for his loans.

In March 2021, the bank’s credit administrative officer informed Childs that his customer relationship with Atkinson had exceeded the $500,000 limit. The bank also discovered other loans tied to Atkinson, amounting to $1.6 million, not including the loans related to his relationships.

Childs defended the transactions, arguing that the loans were not related because they had their own repayment sources. He also continued to grant loans to Atkinson’s associates despite delinquency issues.

Atkinson managed to fraudulently borrow over $3 million from the bank up until August 2022.

Former Bank President Sent to Prison Over $3,000,000+ Fraudulent Loans Scheme: Report

U.S.-listed cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase (COIN) has rolled out a USDC lending product that allows its customers to earn yield directly from the exchange’s app, deepening its integration with decentralized finance (DeFi) .

The feature is powered by Morpho, a protocol that routes deposits through curated “vaults” managed by Steakhouse Financial, according to a blogpost on Thursday

When users deposit USDC, their funds are lent out to borrowers — including those already tapping Coinbase’s crypto-backed loans secured by bitcoin. The interest borrowers pay generates returns for depositors, who can withdraw anytime without lockups.

Coinbase said the setup creates a flywheel effect where its lending and borrowing products reinforce each other. The launch follows more than $900 million in loans originated through Coinbase’s crypto-backed loan service. Together, the two offerings form what the company calls its first complete onchain lending and borrowing ecosystem.

By outsourcing the backend to Morpho’s smart contracts while keeping the Coinbase interface, the company is betting on what it calls the “DeFi mullet” approach: a familiar fintech user experience at the front, powered by open, decentralized infrastructure in the back.

For users, the product offers an easier way into decentralized lending markets without leaving Coinbase’s platform. For Morpho, it underscores the argument that the future of finance will be built on open networks, but accessed through trusted gateways.

Binance, the largest global crypto exchange, is still under the constraints of a massive, $4.3 billion U.S. enforcement action, though Senator Elizabeth Warren and other Democrats are asking the Trump administration about reports that it's easing off on those orders.

In 2023, the major digital assets platform agreed to settle with U.S. authorities for sanctions violations, insufficient money-laundering protections and operating without proper licensing, and its leader, Changpeng "CZ" Zhao, pleaded guilty to Bank Secrecy Act violations, stepping down from the company and serving a brief prison sentence. Warren and two other senators, Richard Blumenthal and Mazie Hirono questioned Attorney General Pam Bondi in a letter this week, asking about reports by outlets including Bloomberg News that the company has spoken to the U.S. about dropping its independent compliance monitor.

The senators also raised the continuing financial ties between the family of President Donald Trump and Binance, through their stake in World Liberty Financial.

"These reports make it more important than ever that the public understand the Trump administration’s interactions with, and relationship to, Binance and its employees," they wrote, demanding "meaningful" answers to several questions about the U.S. Department of Justice's interactions with Binance, including whether a pardon is being considered for CZ.

As the markets contemplated a potential return of CZ, the Binance-tied BNB token rocketed over $1,000 for the first time, leaping over SOL to become the fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.

The prosecution of Binance in the U.S., where the independent Binance.US arm still operates, occurred under the previous administration, and the arrival of President Trump and his pro-crypto choices to be regulators and law enforcement officials has rapidly shifted the stance of the U.S. government. Many of the efforts of previous officials to address digital assets market risks and the dangers of their use in illicit finance and drug trafficking have been overtaken by the administration's interest in financial innovation and establishing the U.S. as a global crypto hub.

In May, the Securities and Exchange Commission moved to drop its long-running lawsuit against Binance.

A church leader who established the House of Prayer Christian Churches of America (HOPCC) and its affiliate House of Prayer Bible Seminary (HOPBS) is facing charges for committing fraud schemes.

In a statement, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Georgia says that Rony Denis, along with his close associates Anthony Oloans, Joseph Fryar, Dennis Nostrant, Gerard Robertso, David Reip, Marcus Labat and Omar Garcia, engaged in a long-running conspiracy to defraud financial institutions since 2004.

The indictment says the accused church leaders recruited members of their organization to serve as “straw buyers” in real estate transactions to conceal the identities of the true buyers. They also falsified loan applications and closing documents and used forged powers of attorney.

The defendants likewise allegedly created limited liability corporations to acquire and transfer properties, which they converted into rental homes that generated more than $5.2 million in rental income from 2018 and 2020.

From 2011 to 2022, the defendants also allegedly conspired to defraud the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and U.S. military veterans by applying for religious exemptions, enabling the HOPBS to receive more than $3 million in education benefits for its Georgia locations and more than $23.5 million for all of its five locations.

“The scheme funneled funding from VA education benefits to its seminary and related church accounts, enriching the defendants while exhausting some veterans’ benefits, often without students completing their programs.”

‘False Profit’ – Eight Church Leaders in Georgia Accused of Operating a Bank Fraud Scheme for 21 Years Using Straw Buyers and Forgeries

The top securities regulator in the United States is reportedly voting to “open the floodgates” for crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs) as they announce the approval of the Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund.

According to a new press release from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the regulator has approved new standards of generic listings for Commodity-Based Trust Shares, including the trading of the Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund.

Says SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins in the release,

“By approving these generic listing standards, we are ensuring that our capital markets remain the best place in the world to engage in the cutting-edge innovation of digital assets.

This approval helps to maximize investor choice and foster innovation by streamlining the listing process and reducing barriers to access digital asset products within America’s trusted capital markets.”

The vote will simplify and streamline the process for crypto ETFs to file and launch on three national securities exchanges – the NYSE, Nasdaq and Cboe Global Markets.

According to a Reuters report, the vote will now “open the floodgates” for future crypto ETFs.

Says Bitwise Asset Management president Teddy Fusaro of the new development,

“This is a watershed moment in America’s regulatory approach to digital assets, overturning more than a decade of precedent since the first bitcoin ETF filing in 2013.”

SEC Approves Trading of Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund As Commissioners Vote To ‘Open ETF Floodgates’

Cryptocurrency analyst Benjamin Cowen says that the cycle top for Bitcoin (BTC) may occur within a matter of months based on historical precedent.

In a new interview with Kyle Chasse on his YouTube channel, Cowen says that if Bitcoin follows a similar pattern from prior cycles the flagship crypto asset may reach a local top within the next three months.

“When I think about the cycles, I think about a lot of repetitive behavior. And if you look at like the ROI (return on investment) from the low, this cycle is getting potentially close to the end.

Normally, cycles end in Q4 of the post-halving year. That’s coming up relatively soon. If you look at the last few cycles… it at least stands to reason that we might have a top sometime in the fourth quarter of the year.”

Cowen also says that Bitcoin appears to be repeating a similar pattern that preceded prior cycle tops in 2013, 2017 and 2021.

“When you look at how cycles finish, what normally happens is you get a local top in August, and then a local low in September, and then you go into the market cycle top…

When you look at this cycle, you actually can see that it’s the same thing. You have a high in August, a low in September, and there’s a good chance the low for September is already in. If it’s not, then it could go a little bit lower and then potentially go up into whatever the final top is.”

Lastly, the analyst says that altcoins may start rallying around the time when Bitcoin hits the local cycle top.

“What about altcoins? When are altcoins going to participate? Or are they going to participate? Normally, when you do get an altseason that’s usually a sign that the cycle is over. By the time you get that, it usually means that the Bitcoin bull market is over.”

Bitcoin is trading for $117,686 at time of writing, up 1.6% in the last 24 hours.

Here’s When Bitcoin Could Hit the Cycle Top if History Repeats Itself, According to Analyst Benjamin Cowen

A memecoin built on the layer-2 scaler Base has jumped more than 50% after receiving surprise trading support from the South Korean crypto exchange giant Upbit.

Upbit listed Toshi (TOSHI) earlier this week, sending the asset from trading around $0.00063 on Tuesday to a high of $0.00112 on Wednesday morning, a low-to-high increase of nearly 78%.

The 230th-ranked crypto asset by market cap has since partially retraced and is trading at $0.000907 at time of writing. TOSHI is still up more than 52% in the past week and nearly 33% in the past month.

Toshi bills itself as “the mascot” of Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum (ETH) layer-2 scaling solution.

Explains the project’s website,

“Toshi aims to become the Face of Base and a leading figure in the burgeoning Base ecosystem. Leveraging a robust meme culture and an expanding community, Toshi strives to be the premier memecoin on Base, drawing in the masses with its significant utility and industry-recognized brand to onboard billions on-chain.”

Toshi is named after Coinbase chief executive Brian Armstrong’s cat and Bitcoin’s (BTC) pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.

Despite the gains this week, TOSHI remains nearly 60% down from its all-time high of $0.00226, which it hit in late January, according to data from CoinGecko.

Base Memecoin Explodes After Receiving Surprise Trading Support From Crypto Exchange Upbit

Subadra Rajappa, a strategist at the French lender Societe Generale, believes that the US dollar (USD) has lost its luster as a safe-haven asset.

In a new CNBC Television interview, Rajappa says that gold’s latest surge to record highs as the dollar continues to weaken indicates investors are turning to the precious metal as their preferred store-of-value asset.

Says Rajappa,

“The rise in gold versus the dollar not doing as much is telling. Your flight-to-safety asset is now gold. It’s not the dollar. It’s not really any other asset in the US.

Yes, you are seeing a run-up in equities. A lot of that has to do with the dollar weakening. The question becomes, what happens from here on? And gold seems to be that safe haven asset.”

Societe Generale is the world’s 19th largest bank with $1.717 trillion worth of assets on its balance sheet.

Meanwhile, banking giant Goldman Sachs believes that gold may hit $5,000 per ounce next year if the Federal Reserve’s independence is damaged.

Says Goldman Sachs analyst Samantha Dart,

“Should private investors diversify more heavily into gold, we see potential upside to gold prices to well above our $4,000 mid-2026 baseline. As a result, gold remains our highest-conviction long recommendation.”

Dart notes how a relatively small shift from one investment class into the precious metal would likely be enough to increase gold by about 36% its current value.

“For example, we estimate that if 1% of the privately owned US treasury market were to flow into gold, the gold price would rise to nearly $5,000/oz, assuming everything else constant.”

According to JPMorgan Chase, gold is also becoming widely favored over the dollar among central banks, increasing the risk of de-dollarization, a reduction of dependence on the USD for global trade.

Meera Chandan, co-head of Global FX Strategy at JPMorgan, said in July that the share of USD has dropped to below 60% at central banks, a two-decade low.

Gold is trading for around $3,659 at time of writing, up about $1,000 since January 1st.

Nvidia (NVDA) , the world's largest public company by market cap, said it will invest $5 billion in Intel (INTC) and work with the chipmaker on developing custom data-center and PC products as artificial intelligence becomes more pervasive.

The Santa Clara, California-based maker of the graphic processing units (GPUs) that underpin AI computing will buy shares of its neighbor at $23.28 each, 6.5% lower than Wednesday's closing price of $24.90, according to an announcement on Thursday.

While Nvidia is known for its GPU production, Intel was a leader in developing microprocessors and entered public consciousness as the provider of central processing units (CPUs) that drove IBM-compatible microcomputers. Its fortunes have declined as AI, with its intensive computing requirements, has taken root.

Intel stock surged 24% on Thursday, taking its market cap to $143 billion. That's just a fraction of the $500 billion it boasted in 2000, according to companiesmarketcap.com. Nvidia, with a value of $4.23 trillion, rose 1.85%.

The U.S. government bought a 10% stake in Intel last month for $8.9 billion in an attempt to shore up the future of American chip manufacturing.

The crypto industry watches Nvidia's performance with a keen eye as a proxy for market sentiment, which may reflect in AI tokens and the broader crypto market.
